Eucomis comosa punctata

Commonly known as ‘pineapple lily’. Eucomis comosa puntata is the name of a group of eucomis varieties in which the colour can vary, soft pink, pink, purple and green tints. Usually the colour turns out a shade of pink. They are as good in pots and planters as in the garden. Eucomis provides a long lasting show of beautiful exotic looking blooms in the summer.

Care Information

  • Plant when danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed.
  • Alternatively start them off in a greenhouse.
  • Good in borders, pots or containers.
  • Make sure soil is well drained, planting 2- 3 times the depth of the bulb.
  • Water well after planting and keep moist.
  • Let the foliage die back naturally, to put the goodness back in the bulb.
  • In the right conditions these bulbs will naturalise.
  • Hardy in all but extreme conditions.
  • Eucomis will flower better once the roots have established.
