Originating from Africa and west Asia all varieties available are from tropical origin. It is important to remember that, when we are trying to grow this beautiful flower here in the UK!
It’s nickname ‘glory lily’ tells you it represents fame and honour. It is the national flower of Zimbabwe where it is seen as representing the source of all life. It’s other common name is ‘climbing lily’. This is because in the wild it can reach heights of up to 3 meters. Growing them here they could grow as tall as 1 meter.
Definitely a great challenge and project for the keen gardener who could be rewarded with a stunning show of gorgeous flowers!
