Care Information

Convallaria care

  • Plant when danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed.
  • If roots seem dry it is preferable to soak for about half an hour.
  • Plant in borders in a shaded area, or woodlands, remember it prefers moist conditions.
  •  When planted in pots/containers, again they prefer shaded, moist conditions but not waterlogged.
  • Alternatively start them off in a greenhouse.
  • Plant twice the depth of the bulb.
  • Water well after planting and keep moist during the growing season.
  • Let the foliage die back naturally, so the goodness can go back into the bulb.
  • Convallaria is fully hardy.

Please note: the lily of the valley usually takes a season to root in before it will show signs of flowering.
