Iris germanica Tiger Butter

The name of this bearded Iris tells you what beautiful, bright, combined colours the flower of this variety has. The contrast of the yellow and dark burgundy is a ‘must have’ addition to your garden and is also a real attraction to pollinators.

Care Information

  • Iris can be grown in borders, pots or containers.
  • Can be planted straight into the open ground or started off in a pots or planters.
  • Plant in well drained soil with the bulb/rhizome showing on the surface as it needs to be baked in the sun…. As Monty says, ‘Sun in, flower out’!
  • Avoid waterlogged conditions
  • Plant in a sunny location but can tolerate a little shade (mornings).
  • Iris do not like to be crowded by other plant species.
  • Cut foliage back once it is turning yellow.
  • You can divide your Iris after they have established themselves (usually 3-5 years) and have formed a good clump.
  • Fully hardy but if a long hard frost is forecast a mulch is advised.
